What Alabama Political Leaders Are Saying About Mar-a-Lago Search Warrant
Here's what Alabama political leaders had to say after the personal residence of former president Donald Trump was searched by FBI agents.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Former president Donald Trump on Monday confirmed that his personal estate in Florida was the target of a search warrant by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as numerous media outlets across the political spectrum reported that the action was related to the potential mishandling of classified documents.

"They even broke into my safe!" Trump said in a statement on Monday confirming the news. "What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States."

President Joe Biden's administration has told numerous media outlets that the president had no prior knowledge of the search warrant, which was not only authorized by FBI Director Christopher Wray — a Trump appointee — but also signed off on by both a federal judge and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Few states have shown its overwhelming support for the controversial former commander-in-chief like Alabama, which was reflected on Monday in the words of both Republican elected officials and candidates.

Somewhat surprisingly, the few Democrats holding elected office in Alabama — such as U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, D-Birmingham — have been silent in the wake of the news, while their Republican counterparts seem to be ascribing to the same messaging of government overreach and the dangerous politicization of the U.S. Justice Department.
Here's a quick look at what some of Alabama's most prominent political names had to say about the search warrant:
U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Alabama: "The Deep state has reached a new low today by raiding a former president’s home ... This is a step too far when politics turns into a personal war against a large part of the American people."
Katie Britt, Republican nominee for U.S. Senate: "The American people deserve answers immediately," Britt said. "The politicization of the Department of Justice has been escalating steadily since President Biden took office, but today was completely unprecedented. While this was avoidable and foreseeable, the result is undoubtedly an erosion of many Alabamians' faith in our justice system. Everyone in our country should want justice to be blind. We need full transparency now."
U.S. Rep. Mo Brook, R-Huntsville:

U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl, R-Mobile: "An FBI raid on a former president’s private residence is totally unprecedented. The American people need answers NOW!"
U.S. Rep. Barry Moore, R-Enterprise: "Every single American should be outraged. No perceived enemy of this lawless administration - whether a concerned parent deemed a 'domestic terrorist' a struggling taxpayer, or a political rival — is safe from the full force of the federal [government] being used to persecute them."
Alabama Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth (R): "It’s obvious the liberals, RINOs, and fake news media want to destroy Donald Trump, but an ambush raid on a former president’s home is unconscionable. Those kinds of political attacks take place in Third World banana republics, not the USA. It’s time to Make America Great Again."
