Sellers then said the officer saw a man armed with a handgun firing shots in the same parking lot he was working the accident.
"He challenged the armed male and took him into custody," he said. "Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes responded and began an investigation. The investigation showed that the shots were not fired in the officer’s direction but were fired at a vehicle that was leaving the area."

He then said the officer spoke with the man and other witnesses, where it was determined that a woman, later identified as Kayla Figgers, pulled into the parking lot and confronted the male and his girlfriend due to Figgers believing that they cut her off in traffic.
"During the argument she is reported to have displayed a handgun," Sellers explained. "She began pulling off and reportedly pointed the gun at the male who then pulled a gun and fired shots, striking the vehicle."
Figgers was charged for menacing saw her bond set at $1,000 bond.
Sellers said based on witnesses and evidence it was eventually determined that the man acted in self-defense and was not charged.
