Martin Pizzeria owner Tommy Martin, a Gordo native, is behind the new venture and says it is a continuation of a family business with roots going back decades.

“My parents owned a pizza and video store from the late ’80s to early 2000s, so that’s kind of how I got my start,” Martin told Patch. “Things kind of worked out for us to reopen the family business back in 2024. We’ve been doing very well in Gordo ever since, and then this location came open, so we jumped at the opportunity.”
As Patch previously reported, Chicago Pizza Express in the shopping center now anchored by ALDI closed its doors for good in January after first opening in November 2024.

Martin said the new restaurant moved into the existing space with minimal changes, allowing for a relatively smooth transition.
“Everything was already set up,” Martin said. “It is basically a turnkey operation. We mainly bought the equipment from the previous owner. They wanted to downsize a little bit and it worked out for both of us.”
The pizzeria is now open from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 9:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Martin also said community involvement will be a key focus moving forward.
“We love working with schools and churches, so if anybody has a function they need help with, just get in touch with us," he said. "We love helping out."
Customers can also take advantage of a new loyalty program, which offers rewards based on spending.
“For every dollar you spend, you get one point,” Martin said. “After 75 points, it’s $5 off, and then at 200 points, it’s $10 off. Eventually, we’ll have some merchandise set up in here that you can purchase and use your points as well.”
Delivery is currently available through third-party apps, though Martin said the business plans to expand that service in the future.
“We do offer delivery right now but it’s through DoorDash and Uber Eats," he said. "We will eventually be adding in-house delivery. That’s one thing we’re working on right now, trying to get that insurance squared away so we can do the delivery.”
