Body Found In Sicard Hollow Basin Identified

A 23-year-old man has been identified as the body found floating in a Birmingham Water Works basin this week.

BIRMINGHAM,AL - A body found floating in an intake basin Tuesday morning at the Birmingham Water Works facility on Sicard Hollow Road has been identified. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the man as 23-year-old Leonard Docquan Bennett of Birmingham.

An employee at the Cahaba Pumping Station made the discovery just after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Thus far, the cause of Bennett's death is still unknown, but an investigation is ongoing. Bennett’s body was taken to the coroner’s office for autopsy. Bennett was last seen alive Sunday, according to reports.
