Man Wielding Gun Causes Lockdown At Vestavia Hills High School

The high school was on lockdown briefly Tuesday due to a man wielding a gun during a domestic dispute nearby.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - A brief scare involving a man wielding a gun near Vestavia Hills High School forced the school to go into lockdown mode for 13 minutes Tuesday morning. Reports indicated there were no injuries and the school was able to proceed to normal operations without incident.

According to a report by the Vestavia Voice, the man was involved in a domestic incident at the Morgan Manor apartments at 3300 Morgan Drive, approximately half a mile from the high school. The man reportedly ran away from police and ran by the ball fields at VHHS before being apprehended. The man did not enter the school.
