Focused on Alaska Native and American Indian teens, the program offers hands-on medical simulations, college prep, outdoor adventures around Anchorage, and ongoing support through a new learning community that continues helping local students pursue healthcare careers.
   

• Anchorage city leaders prepare for 'tough choices' during upcoming budget cycle (adn.com) — Anchorage officials are warning residents to expect tough budget choices for 2027 as revenues flatten, costs rise, and aging infrastructure and housing needs strain city finances. Mayor Suzanne LaFrance and the Assembly are weighing service levels, property taxes, and priorities like homelessness services, housing development, and school funding, with key budget discussions starting September 18 and a draft plan due October 2.
   

• Dick Traini, Anchorage's longest serving Assembly member, dies at 77 (alaskasnewssource.com) — Anchorage residents are mourning the death of Dick Traini, the city's longest-serving Assembly member, who spent nearly three decades shaping local government and community life. Family, former colleagues, and past city leaders are remembering his outspoken leadership, military service, and deep commitment to Anchorage, and invite the public to a memorial service on September 19 at 4 p.m.
