Alaska Hospital Creates a Healing Environment for Patients in Recovery (aha.org) — Hospital beds in Anchorage are increasingly filled with patients ready for discharge but stuck waiting for short‑term nursing or rehab placements, so the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is building an 80‑bed skilled nursing facility at Alaska Native Medical Center. Opening in March 2027, it will ease hospital crowding and is currently seeking Alaska Native and American Indian artwork to create a culturally grounded healing space. 
2. New mural brings more color to downtown Anchorage (alaskasnewssource.com) — A bright new mural now covers the side of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce building at 1016 W 6th Avenue, adding a splash of color to downtown. Created by Alaskan artist Dawn Gerety and sponsored by Coca-Cola's national Paint the Nation campaign, the piece celebrates Alaska summers with fish, wildlife, and community themes, and was completed in under a week by a professional painting crew.
3. 'I guarantee you can find a job in AK's oil and gas industry': AOGA conference starts with optimistic tone (alaskasnewssource.com) — Anchorage is hosting a sold-out Alaska Oil and Gas Association conference downtown, where industry leaders are touting strong job growth and new North Slope projects. Speakers highlighted thousands of existing jobs, an expected 1,000-job increase this year, and major investments like the Pikka field, while also acknowledging environmental concerns and the need for stable tax and regulatory policies.
4. Sheen vanishes, mystery remains after pilot reports oil slick near Cook Inlet platform (alaskasnewssource.com) — State and federal agencies say repeated Cook Inlet flyovers from Anchorage have found no remaining trace of an oily sheen first reported near Hilcorp's long‑inactive Spark Platform, about 50–60 miles southwest of the city. Lines in the area remain shut while investigators search for the source, balancing spill concerns, endangered belugas, and active local fisheries that matter to Anchorage residents.
