Both projects were done in partnership with the city's Neighborhood Services Department, with financial support coming from Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The new playgrounds are covered by a shade canopy and feature a swing set, climbing structures, slides and other fun amenities.
Madison and University parks are the first of 14 city parks to benefit from new playgrounds this spring thanks to CDBG funding. Work on the additional playgrounds is underway or will begin soon and include Barrios Unidos, Cave Creek Cholla, Central, Edison, El Prado, Harmon, Lewis, Nevitt, Perry, Roosevelt, Winifred Green and West Plaza parks.
