Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:

  1. Two of Phoenix's busiest railroad crossings will receive $7 million for safety enhancements. The Biden administration announced the federal grant on Thursday, with the City of Phoenix matching up to 30 percent. Work on the two crossings — 19th Avenue and McDowell Road, as well as 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road —will include added gate arms and signalization, sidewalk widening, and traffic signal realignment. (KTAR.com)
  2. A downtown Phoenix bar has shut down following ongoing conflict with its Roosevelt Row neighbors. The Golden Margarita, which operated as a Mexican restaurant by day and a lively nightclub come sundown, first opened in September 2020. Several reports of violence, as well as rumors of staff not receiving pay, plagued the bar before its closing. (Phoenix New Times)
  3. Police report that two teenagers were shot by multiple suspects in Phoenix on Thursday night. Authorities say the incident took place near 83rd Avenue and Clarendon, just south of Indian School Road. One victim was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries; the other experienced minor injuries and did not need to be hospitalized. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
