Planned Laveen senior center to fill resource gap (abc15.com) — Phoenix is moving ahead with a new 12,000-square-foot senior center at Aguila Park in Laveen, aiming to give older residents nearby space for classes, meals, and fitness. Officials say strong turnout at recent senior programs shows the need, and aging experts note the center should reduce isolation for those who struggle to travel across the city.
2. Hobbs, Biggs trade political barbs at Taiwan trade office opening (yumasun.com) — Phoenix residents are seeing their city spotlighted as state leaders spar over Arizona's growing economic ties with Taiwan and TSMC's multibillion‑dollar chip investment in the city. At the Phoenix opening of Taiwan's trade office, Gov. Katie Hobbs and Rep. Andy Biggs clashed over the CHIPS Act, foreign investment, and how best to support the semiconductor boom shaping local jobs and industry.
3. Arizona Lottery Mega Millions, Pick 3 Evening results for Oct. 6, 2026 (azcentral.com) — If you bought Arizona Lottery tickets in Phoenix, you can now check the latest Mega Millions and other draw results from October 6 and see exactly where to claim any prize. Phoenix players get detailed instructions and office locations, including the main University Drive office and Sky Harbor location, for cashing everything from small wins to big jackpots.
4. Personal information for over 1 million people stolen in cyberattack on Arizona court system (azfamily.com) — More than a million people with Arizona court fines or fees, including many in Phoenix, have had personal information copied in a cyberattack on the state court system. Officials say the breach, discovered September 24, also exposed protection orders and foster-care reports, but they've found no evidence the stolen data has been used or shared so far.
5. Grassroots group honored for years-long push to improve SR 347 (abc15.com) — A grassroots group that campaigned for safer, wider State Route 347—linking Maricopa with the Phoenix area—has earned a statewide transportation partnering award. Their years of emails, meetings, and advocacy helped push SR 347 into ADOT's five-year plan, and major widening and interchange upgrades between I-10 and Maricopa are now underway through 2029.
