Here are the top 3 stories today in Phoenix:

  1. Yesterday afternoon, a women's church group was rescued from Camelback Mountain due to heat-related illnesses. According to Phoenix fire officials, the group was on a retreat and started hiking Echo Canyon Trail earlier in the morning. During the hike, the women were also filming a documentary called "Bad Girls Gone God" where they "embark on strenuous activities to get closer to God." Unfortunately, the day was cut short due to the heat. Several of the hikers had to be wheeled down the trail and three women were hospitalized. (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
  2. The homelessness crisis in the United States is ongoing, and the number of people experiencing it in Maricopa County is rising. Because of this, there is a desperate need for affordable housing. Thankfully, Threshold is stepping in to be the answer. They plan "to change the housing dynamic by inviting landlords to be part of the solution." To learn more about it, please read the full article! (Cronkite News)
  3. Are you looking to find a new home in the Phoenix area? Patch and Redfin have got you covered. They have three fresh new homes on the market to share with you! There is a beautiful 1,074-square-foot unit with 1 bed/1.5 baths that you have to check out. (Phoenix Patch)

Are you a Phoenix resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
