Here are the top 3 stories today in Phoenix:
- Mattel recently unveiled new plans for its Mattel Adventure Park, which is set to open in the metro area next year. In an announcement earlier this week, the company confirmed the park will include a variety of entertainment experiences featuring brands such as Barbie, Masters of the Universe, and Mattel Games. The park, which will be located south of the State Farm Stadium in the West Valley, is slated to open in the first quarter of 2023. (The Business Journals)
- The IDA on McKinley has officially opened in Phoenix, making it the tallest shipping container project in North America. The six-story building is made up of 64 repurposed shipping containers and includes several residential and commercial spaces. A one-bedroom apartment in the building is reportedly going for around $1,700 per month. (Arizona's Family)
- Three high school students from the greater Phoenix area were awarded scholarships in the annual Herb Goldberg Moral Courage Essay Contest. The contest is open to all high schoolers in Arizona, and this year, participants were asked to write about why learning about the Holocaust has helped them respond to antisemitism and hate in their community. Matthew Maledon, Avery Shafron, and Alisa Velasquez were awarded first, second, and third-place prizes respectively. (Jewish News of Greater Phoenix)
