Phoenix Air Quality Alert: High Ozone Levels
Officials warn to limit use of gas-powered equipment, including cars, and to avoid unnecessary physical activity.

PHOENIX, AZ — The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert in the Phoenix region, as measurements show high levels of ozone in the air. Avoid outdoor activity if possible.
It's the fifth day in a row that Phoenix is experiencing bad air quality, now that the NWS extended the pollution advisory. It spreads throughout Maricopa and Pinal counties.
The ozone concentration poses a health risk, according to the NWS. The elderly, children and people with respiratory problems are especially susceptible to the damaging effects of ozone.
