Darin Wallot’s trucking company had 56 cases of leftover frozen ground turkey. That’s more than 1150 pound of meat. It was already late and his Boyd and Company driver was headed back to Indiana and he did not want the food to go to waste. Wallot spoke with Brittany, a communications supervisor with Phoenix Police Dispatch. Brittany acted quickly, working with one of her operators Carla to brainstorm a place for this donation. They both agreed on the Sojourner Center.

The Sojourner Center is an organization which works closely with Domestic Violence victims, providing them with shelter and food. They contacted the center that night and made arrangements to deliver the food. Officers from the Mountain View Precinct assisted with unloading the cases at the Sojourner facility. “You and the police came together to benefit our program participants, and your donation will be a huge blessing to everyone,” wrote Erica Jackson, Sojourner Center Director in an email to Wallot. These are the calls that remind us of the power of working together and taking care of one another. Thank you Darin Wallot for making the call and providing the much needed donation.
