Loop 101 improvement project

The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun a project to widen and improve Loop 101 from Interstate 17 in Phoenix to Pima Road in Scottsdale. Following are current and upcoming restrictions:

  • Hayden Road will be closed at Loop 101 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. April 6 – 10 to permit work on the widened Hayden Road overpass. Southbound traffic on Hayden Road will still be able to access westbound Loop 101, but northbound traffic will not be able to access Loop 101. Detour on Princess or Mayo boulevards.
  • Loop 101 ramps at Hayden Road and Pima Road/Princess Drive will be closed while bridges and ramps are widened. View a flier with a map of detour routes. Following are specific restrictions and dates:
    • The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Hayden Road and the eastbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Pima Road/Princess Drive will be closed from 9 p.m. Sunday, April 5, through June. Detour: Exit at Hayden Road and travel south to Pima Road. Use Pima Road to access eastbound Loop 101.
    • The westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Hayden Road and the westbound on-ramp at Pima Road/Princess Drive will be closed from 9 p.m. Sunday, April 12, through June. Detour: Exit at Pima Road and travel west to Hayden Road. Use Hayden Road to access westbound Loop 101.
  • Loop 101 on- and off-ramps at 56th and 64th streets will be closed until approximately early April. For more information, please see the ADOT construction update.
  • The westbound Loop 101 frontage road between Hayden and Scottsdale roads is closed through November. Detour: Use westbound Loop 101 or Legacy Boulevard between Hayden and Scottsdale roads.
  • Traffic in both directions on the Loop 101 between Scottsdale and Hayden roads is shifted around a work zone in the freeway median while a new bridge is built over the future Miller Road extension. The traffic shift will be in place until approximately August 2020. There will be no reduction in travel lanes during the shift.

Thomas and Hayden roads intersection restricted

Multiple lane restrictions will occur at the intersection of Thomas and Hayden roads 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays March 31 - April 17 for road work.

Northbound Hayden Road restricted at Virginia Avenue

Northbound Hayden Road will be reduced to one or two lanes at Virginia Avenue March 30 - April 24 for utility work.

Southbound Scottsdale Road restricted at Belleview Street

Southbound Scottsdale Road will be reduced to one lane at Belleview Street 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays through Tuesday, April 28, for utility work.

Westbound Frank Lloyd Wright restrictions from Raintree Drive to 92nd Street

The westbound curb lane on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed at Raintree Drive, Thompson Peak Parkway and 92nd Street 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 30 - April 14 (except Saturdays) for utility work.

Southbound Scottsdale Road restricted near Lincoln Drive

Southbound Scottsdale Road will be reduced to one lane from Lincoln Drive to Jackrabbit Road April 6 – 12 while a water line is installed.

Westbound McDowell restricted at 64th Street

Westbound McDowell Road will be reduced to one lane at 64th Street 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays April 13 – May 13 for utility work.
