Loop 101 improvement project

The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun a project to widen and improve Loop 101 from Interstate 17 in Phoenix to Pima Road in Scottsdale. Following are current and upcoming restrictions:

  • The westbound Loop 101 Scottsdale Road on-ramp will be closed from 9 p.m., Sunday, June 14, to Aug. 15. Detour: Access westbound Loop 101 at 64th Street or Hayden Road. The eastbound Scottsdale Road Loop 101 off-ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, June 21, to Aug. 22. Detour: Exit eastbound Loop 101 at Hayden Road or 64th Street. The westbound off-ramp and eastbound on-ramp at 64th Street will also be closed. For more information please view ADOT’s construction update.
  • The westbound Loop 101 frontage road between Hayden and Scottsdale roads is closed through November. Detour: Use westbound Loop 101 or Legacy Boulevard between Hayden and Scottsdale roads.

Loop 101 overnight ramp closures at Chaparral Road (new)

Loop 101 on- and off-ramps at Chaparral Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, July 10, to 5 a.m. Saturday, July 11, for streetlight maintenance. Detour on McDonald Drive. ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while maintenance work is underway.

Nighttime closures in north Scottsdale for utility work (updated)

The following restrictions will occur 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. July 12 – 24 for utility work:

  • Westbound Dynamite Boulevard will be closed immediately west of Alma School Parkway, and eastbound Dynamite Boulevard will be closed immediately east of Scottsdale Road. Detour on Happy Valley Road and Dixileta Drive.
  • Dynamite Boulevard will be closed in both directions at Pima Road. Detour on Happy Valley Road.
  • Northbound Pima Road will be closed immediately north of Jomax Road, and southbound Pima Road will be closed immediately south of Via Dona. Detour on Alma School Parkway and Scottsdale Road.
  • Jomax Road will be closed in both directions at Hayden Road. Detour on Happy Valley Road or Dynamite Boulevard.

The following restriction will occur 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. July 19 - Aug. 7:

  • Scottsdale Road will be closed in both directions from north of Happy Valley Road to south of Jomax Road. Detour on Jomax Road to Pima Road or on Happy Valley Road to Pima Road.

Multiple lane restrictions near Scottsdale Road and Indian Bend Road (new)

Multiple lane restrictions will occur on or near Scottsdale Road from Hummingbird Lane to immediately south of Joshua Tree Lane 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays July 13 – Aug. 7 for trench work.

Multiple lane restrictions near Scottsdale Road and Mayo Boulevard

Multiple lane restrictions will occur in both directions on Scottsdale Road from Mayo Boulevard to Princess Boulevard/Drive June 8 - July 31 for utility work.

Multiple lane restrictions near Osborn and Miller roads

Multiple lane restrictions will occur at or near the intersection of Osborn and Miller roads June 1 - July 24 (24 hours) for utility work.

Multiple lane restrictions at McDonald Drive and Granite Reef Road

Multiple lane restrictions will occur at McDonald Drive and Granite Reef Road 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays through Friday, July 10, for traffic signal upgrades.

Cactus Road restricted from 93rd Street to 101st Street

Multiple lane restrictions will occur in both directions on Cactus Road from 93rd Street to 101st Street 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays June 29 - July 3 for asphalt repair.

Scottsdale Road restricted from Granada Road to Oak Street

Scottsdale Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Granada Street and Oak Street 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays June 29 - Aug. 29 for installation of office plumbing.
