Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:
- Supply chain issues have led to the cancelation of Phoenix's fireworks show this Jul. 4. The city's contractor was unable to secure fireworks for the event due to ongoing issues with the global supply chain. However, several Phoenix-area municipalities are hosting their own fireworks display. Scottsdale, Avondale, and Chandler will all be hosting Jul. 4-related fireworks displays. See details at the link. (Phoenix Patch)
- A local woman is fighting for a crosswalk in Phoenix after a serious injury. The woman, who tripped and fell while running across the road to avoid traffic, has contacted the City of Phoenix transportation departments and is lobbying for a crosswalk in the area of 68th Street and Chauncey Lane. According to the Street Transportation Department, a pavement maintenance project in the area will give the department an opportunity to add some crossing infrastructure to the location. - Tempe and Mesa Fire and Medical Rescue crews responded to a fire in Tempe, about 10 miles outside of Phoenix, on Monday. The fire broke out at a scrap yard at 2150 Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe in the morning. As of Monday evening, no injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire has not yet been released.
