Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:

  1. A Denver teenager reportedly died after being pulled from a hotel pool in Phoenix. Darryl Blackmon, 13, was celebrating a football win with his teammates Saturday evening at the Embassy Suites hotel — which resulted in a tragic drowning accident. KNXV-TV reported a friend gave him CPR until paramedics arrived but he passed away in the hospital. (Phoenix Patch)
  2. Brightside Studios, a new shared space in Phoenix, supports a variety of local artists, musicians, painters, and more. The collective space just opened in February and creators (or Arizonans who simply want to pick up a creative hobby) can sign up for daily, monthly, or annual memberships — which include a workspace and in many cases, supplies. The memberships start at $40. (12news.com KPNX)
  3. The Arizona Humane Society will offer free adoptions next week. In celebration of its South Mountain campus' 20th anniversary, the adoption fees for cats and dogs at all locations will be waived thanks to longtime donors Stuart and Ted Tufty. According to a recent press release, the South Mountain campus is responsible for over 90,000 adoptions in the last 20 years. (KTAR.com)
