Tucson Mayor Rothschild Endorses Kate Gallego For Phoenix Mayor
The Tucson mayor decided to endorse Phoenix mayoral candidate Kate Gallego.

PHOENIX, AZ — Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild officially endorsed Councilwoman Kate Gallego as she runs for office as the mayor of Phoenix, according to a press release from Gallego's campaign. Gallego responded confidently, saying she's looking forward to working with Rothschild "to help Arizona’s two largest cities continue to prosper."
"Right now, cities are facing big challenges. Councilwoman Kate Gallego is uniquely qualified to be the next mayor of Phoenix," Rothschild said, according to the release. "Her leadership and experience will help Phoenix continue to grow and improve the lives of its citizens."
Rothschild isn't alone among Arizona mayors endorsing Gallego. Harry Mitchell, Tempe Mayor and a former Congressman, also backs Gallego. The press release says "broad coalition from Members of Congress to the Arizona Building Trades Council are supporting the Gallego campaign."

“I am pleased to receive the endorsement of the Mayor of Tucson," Gallego said, according to the press release. "Mayor Rothschild has shown leadership in making Arizona a welcoming destination. The Mayor has been a key partner on some of the most important work I have done on the city council such as preparing for a shortage on the Colorado River."
First elected to the Phoenix City Council in 2013, Gallego worked for Salt River Project, focusing on strategic planning and economic development. She holds degrees from Harvard University and the Wharton School of Business, and was once named by AZ Business Magazine as one of the most influential women in business, the release says.
Gallego faces businessman and independent Michael Lafferty, libertarian Nicholas Sarwark, Republican Moses Sanchez and fellow Democrat Daniel Valenzuela.
