City Of Scottsdale: U.S. Customs Inspections This Year

Despite COVID-19 restrictions, Scottsdale Airport had 1,520 customs uses in FY2020/21. This is an increase of 540 over FY2019/20.

COVID-19 drove new business toward the private aviation sector with increased demand for charter, fractional ownership and private aircraft. This rung true for Scottsdale Airport reaching nearly 196,000 operations last year. But another impressive fact was the record number of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) uses last fiscal year.

Despite COVID-19 restrictions, Scottsdale Airport had 1,520 customs uses in FY2020/21. This is an increase of 540 over FY2019/20. The chart below compares both fiscal years total uses and also the breakdown by aircraft type. There were upticks in all aircraft categories with the large and mid-size jets making up about 67 percent of all customs uses last fiscal year. Scottsdale Airport offers CBP service, as a user fee service, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily for both business and leisure travelers.
