Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. A brush fire, referred to as the Diamond Fire, broke out in north Scottsdale around Ranch Gate Road and 128th Street near McDowell Mountain Regional Park. Residents were forced to evacuate, as the fire was "fast-moving because of the wind." The evacuation zone was "west of 152nd Street, south of Rio Verde Drive, east of 136th Street and north of Jomax Road." For those needing shelter, "an evacuation center has been set up at Cactus Shadows High School, 5802 E. Dove Valley Road." About 300 fire personnel were on scene and, as of Wednesday morning, 2,500 to 3,000 acres had burned with no injuries reported. Residents can "sign up for emergency alerts so they come direct to your phone: ready.gov/alerts." (FOX 10 News Phoenix, City of Scottsdale - Government via Facebook, Scottsdale Fire Department via Facebook)
  2. Interested in supporting a locally owned business while enjoying live music by local musicians? Head to JOJO Coffeehouse at 3712 N. Scottsdale Road for "Summer Sounds!" From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in July, guests can enjoy live music from featured artists while enjoying flights of coffee or mimosas, craft cocktails, and various breakfast or brunch menu items. Check out the menu here and the full lineup of artists at the link. (Arizona Foothills Magazine)
  3. The city has released the July program guide for the Scottsdale Video Network. As a reminder, you can check out this live stream video network highlighting Scottsdale on the city's website, on YouTube, or on Cox channel 11. Scottsdale Video Network is now also available on "Roku, Fire, Apple TV, Android TV mobile phone and laptop through the LocalBTV app." In addition to public meetings, viewers can check out "Neighborhood College" to learn about becoming neighborhood leaders, "Scottsdale 360 | Water Wise" to learn about water resources and conservation, or "Splash!
