Here are the top 3 stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. The predators promise love and deliver deceit; in the end, broken hearts and lost wealth are the results. According to reports, the FBI warned recently that as Valentine's Day approaches, we need to be alert to the romance scammers who prey on the lonely and, in particular, older women. To bring the issue closer to home, the report stated, "In 2021, around 650 Arizona victims lost $20.9 million in confidence fraud or romance scams, according to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center... a 65 percent increase from 2020." 2. KPNX reporting revealed findings of a recent HomeAdvisor survey. After 2,200 residents in the 25 biggest cities were surveyed to determine which city had the least annoying neighbors, the results found that "Phoenix is home to the least annoying neighbors in America, according to residents." The most negative aspect of your Phoenix area neighbors is noise. Perhaps the reason why we don't find our neighbors annoying, according to the report, is that we rank # 1 for being least likely to know our neighbors! Find the full rankings here. (12news.com KPNX)
  3. Caitlin Sievers of Patch Media reported on a DUI Task Force patrolling the area around the Phoenix Open in North Scottsdale. The effort will extend through Sunday, the last day of the tournament. SPD said, "The goal of the officers assigned to the Task Force is to contact those drivers who have made the disastrous decision to drive impaired and remove them from the roadway before they hurt themselves or others."
