Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- With summer around the corner, Scottsdale Human Services' "Beat the Heat Program" is kicking off! Serving housebound seniors, this program provides items to keep them comfortable and cool in the summer, and also gives staff a chance to evaluate seniors' needs and connect with appropriate resources. To support the program, you can donate online at Scottsdale Community Partners, or drop off items at Via Linda Senior Center, 10440 E. Via Linda, between April 2 and May 26. Items needed include bottled water, fans, hygiene products, stamps, grocery gift cards, healthy snacks and supplemental drinks. (City of Scottsdale)
- The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill will open this summer at 9280 E Via de Venture Ste 103! The franchise plans additional Arizona restaurants expected to open in Mesa, Chandler, Queen Creek and Gilbert. All restaurant locations "will serve healthy Mediterranean entrees and sides, such as gyros, rice bowls, and hummus." (NewsBreak)
- "Diversion: Recycled Textile Art," an exhibition focused on textile waste, will open at the Scottsdale Civic Center Library on April 11 and run through April 30. The artwork featured is created from old clothing and textiles to highlight the approximate "92 million tons of textile waste" added to landfills yearly, as "the volume of clothing Americans throw away each year has doubled." (Experience Scottsdale)
- Ripley's Believe It or Not! returned to the Arizona Boardwalk near Loop 101 and Via De Ventura. Guests can visit the attraction daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Purchase tickets in person or online at Ripley's Believe It Or Not! (KTAR.com)
