Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- New details have been released about the stabbing and standoff in Old Town last Sunday. Scottsdale Police Department was called on June 4 around 7:30 p.m. by a 36-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries after a confrontation with the two suspects, during which they "held a knife to his throat, stabbed his face and kicked him in the head." When police arrived, 41-year-old Justin Walowitz was taken into custody but 48-year-old Andre Woods "ignored officers' commands and ran inside a nearby room" at Extended Stay America. SWAT units were called, surrounding rooms were evacuated, and a two hour standoff commenced, which ended with Woods surrendering around 11:30 p.m. (Arizona's Family)
- A Scottsdale police officer was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday near McKellips Road and Miller Road. The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The details surrounding the crash are still under investigation. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
