Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- Remember those coyote attacks from yesterday's newsletter? The Arizona Game & Fish Department needs help from the public to track down the coyote suspect. You can call 623-236-7201 to report any coyote sightings near 94th Street and Thompson Peak Parkway to Cactus Road. Reports can be made 24/7. The coyote in question is suspected to have been fed illegally in the past, as it doesn't appear to fear people. Until this coyote is caught, parents are advised to keep their children close when outdoors. (Arizona Fish & Game Department via Facebook, Subscription: Daily Independent)
- Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams opened a new location in Old Town Scottsdale at 5th Avenue and Marshall Way on March 1. With over 20 locations nationwide and ice cream pints available in grocery stores, the company is growing rapidly! Customers can choose butter crisp waffle bowls and cones, or traditional bowls and cones, to fill with over 18 flavors. Jeni's prioritizes clean ingredients, the scent of the ice cream and the texture, even using special freezers to keep the texture consistent. (Scottsdale Progress)
- According to the National Community Survey, residents love Scottsdale! The survey was conducted this past December and January, and results reflect ratings in the 90th percentile for livability, quality of life, daytime safety, and fire, library and utility services. Over 90% of respondents recommend living here and plan to live here for the next five years. In comparison to 2017 responses, the new survey showed slight decreases in overall safety and overall layout, yet slight increases in the perception of the city government's honesty and transparency. The full survey results are at ScottsdaleAZ.gov. (Scottsdale Progress)
- Tuesday Morning, a discount retailer, is closing several Arizona stores amid financial challenges, including the Scottsdale location at Sonoran Village, 15449 N. Hayden Road, Ste 101. The stores are selling everything, even their equipment and fixtures. After the 11 identified Arizona locations close, only seven will be left in the state and 215 in the country. (NewsBreak)

- The City of Scottsdale commented on the controversial approval to modify "a one-mile stretch of 68th Street from Indian School Road to Thomas Road." According to the city, "68th Street north and south of that segment is one lane in each direction, and traffic data shows that this segment isn't consistently busy enough to warrant the extra lanes. This project will narrow the road to match the segments north and south of the project, modify raised medians and add right turn lanes and left-turn bays to improve traffic flow and safety. New bike lanes and pedestrian crossings are part of the project as well, making the road friendlier for residents of the neighborhoods on both sides.
