Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Patricia Cain, a Scottsdale realtor, has released a children's book to instill self-confidence and hope in our next generation. Titled "Whimsbee's First Adventure," the book is inspired by Cain's desire to "remind children of their beauty and uniqueness that was given to them by God." Recommended for children ages 4-8, the new book can be purchased from Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and a portion of the book's sales will be donated to charities benefiting children. (scottsdale.org)
  2. The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is offering 'Insight Art Tours' guided by curatorial staff. These 30-minute tours of four different exhibitions are intended to foster a "deeper appreciation for the arts," provide "insight into why these artworks were chosen for the exhibitions," and lead to further conversations about the artwork and museum operations. The next tour is available at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 2 for a $10 museum admission fee. (scottsdale.org)
  3. The City of Scottsdale approved a $78,000 settlement with John Fountain, a man who "claims to have tripped on a sidewalk panel and fell." Fountain claimed that his medical bills from the fall totaled over $37,000, and he originally requested $300,000 to settle the claim. After negotiations, and the realization that the cost to the city to litigate the case would be over $50,000, the $78,000 settlement agreement was reached. (NewsBreak)
