  2. A Scottsdale resident has been arrested on first-degree murder charges for the death of 29-year-old Lauren Heike. Heike was hiking along a trail that crosses Scottsdale and Phoenix on April 28 when she was stabbed 15 times. Zion William Teasley was arrested at his apartment near Bell and Scottsdale roads on Thursday evening after being identified "through a combination of cell phone data, satellite images of the assailant running down the trail and DNA." Teasley, 22, was recently released from prison for "robbery and other crimes," and he was recently fired from a sporting goods store for stealing merchandise and "being 'aggressive' with female coworkers."   3. Military moms-to-be are being treated to a special baby shower and free lunch at Ocean 44! Mike and Jeff Mastro have partnered with USO Arizona since 2019 to treat military moms to this unique annual experience. The 75 pre-selected moms will enjoy a complimentary high-end dining experience, baby shower games, and more on Saturday, May 20. (Subscription: Daily Independent)
  4. The City of Scottsdale and Salt River Project have planted 441 trees! As part of the "Right Tree, Right Place" program, 146 trees that posed threats to power lines were removed, and each tree was replaced by at least three "powerline-friendly species" throughout the city.
