Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:
- June Days is in full swing, and there are many exciting events and activities! One of these unique offerings is Scottsdale Stories & Sweets, which is a three-part series of Scottsdale taletelling that invites guests of all ages to decide what is fact or fiction. While listening to the stories, guests can enjoy sweet treats from different local businesses, including Paula Jacqueline Cakes & Pastries, Sweet Dee's Bakeshop, and Chin Up Donuts. The free sessions take place at the Community Design Studio, 7506 E. Indian School Road, on June 6, 20, and 27 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Please RSVP online to allow for proper food and beverage planning. (June 6: Old Town Scottsdale, June 20: Old Town Scottsdale, June 27: Old Town Scottsdale)
- Scottsdale Arts is currently accepting applications for its Community Arts Grant Program, "which provides funding to nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in Scottsdale and throughout the Valley for projects that serve the Scottsdale community." The application must be submitted online prior to Friday, July 8. Applicants must be "501(c)(3) nonprofit arts or cultural organizations [with a three-year history of programming] that provide programs or activities within Scottsdale or for Scottsdale residents." (Scottsdale Arts)
- Scottsdale released an update on short-term rentals. As of May 22, the city has "issued licenses for 3,140 of 3,707 submitted short-term rental applications." The 567 outstanding applications are canceled, withdrawn, pending, or incomplete. Since there are an estimated 4,248 short-term rentals in Scottsdale, the city estimates that 87 percent of all short-term rentals are in the licensing process and 74 percent are currently licensed. You can check out the full "Short-Term Rental Quarterly Report" for more details. (City of Scottsdale)
