Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- A Sunday evening shooting at a nightclub in Old Town Scottsdale is under investigation, and a victim is in critical condition. The nightclub is near Indian School Road and Drinkwater Boulevard, and the general manager reported that multiple people wanted to hurt a customer inside. One individual was stopped at the front door, but the group sent someone else in, without a weapon, to force the customer outside. Outside of the club, multiple individuals were waiting to hurt the customer, and one fired a gun. Scottsdale Police Department reported that this was an isolated incident, with no threat to the surrounding community. (Arizona's Family)
- The Artesia project near Indian Bend and Scottsdale Roads, which began in 2006 and then stalled, received unanimous City Council approval to resume. Artesia's plan includes 546 new townhomes and condos with a resort-like Spanish colonial design. Construction timelines are still unknown, as final construction plans need to be reviewed and permitted. (Scottsdale Progress)
- Abrazo Scottsdale Campus received Aetna's Bariatric Institutes of Quality designation, joining the list of other designations this campus currently holds for positive patient outcomes and value and quality of care. Abrazo Scottsdale's bariatric facility also holds the Optum Center of Excellence, Cigna Three Star Quality and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Blue Distinction+ recognitions. The campus offers an interdisciplinary approach to weight-loss surgeries and treatment, including both pre- and post-operative support and care. (citysuntimes)
- Equality Health, a health care firm that assists underserved communities through improved access to value-based care, is expanding. The company signed a 10-year lease on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land for a new headquarters on the Riverwalk. (The Business Journals/paywall)
