(Patch Media)

Hey, neighbors! I'm back with your new copy of the Scottsdale Patch newsletter. Keep reading to find out the most important things happening in town. In this issue, you'll find:

  • HonorHealth has announced an urgent care acquisition.
  • The story of twins born almost two months apart.
  • Natural grass ban for new homes.

But first, your local weather: You guessed it! Mostly sunny and hot today, with a high of 111 and low of 91.

Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. HonorHealth announced that it will purchase 26 Arizona urgent care centers from FastMed. The centers are currently operated as a joint venture, but they will join the seven other independently operated HonorHealth urgent care locations when the deal closes this summer. HonorHealth CEO Todd LaPorte stated that "through this acquisition, our patients will continue to have increased access to urgent care services that are closer to where they live and work." 2. A Scottsdale couple shared the story of their twin babies born almost two months apart. Stephanie Beasley went into premature labor back in March and lost her daughter Juniper. Though Stephanie and her husband Jeff were told to "consider terminating the second pregnancy because it wasn't likely for [her twin son] Stetson to survive," Stetson was born 50 days later on May 17. Stetson is currently in the NICU at HonorHealth Shea, and he has grown from 2 pounds 3 ounces to 6 pounds. The family credits their faith for making it through this journey, and they shared their story to bring hope to other families facing difficult decisions. You can read more at the GoFundMe page. 3. At the meeting on Monday, City Council approved an ordinance that bans new single-family homes built or permitted after Aug. 15 from having real grass in their front yards. The city indicated that "86 percent of Scottsdale Water customers support the new ban." With the adoption of this ordinance, "Scottsdale aims to lead the way in water conservation practices, setting an example for other communities across the region." Read more from the city here.
