1. Census data shows smaller University of Arizona freshman class (kold.com) — Tucson families should know the University of Arizona's freshman class is about 5,000 students smaller this year, as the school aims for a more academically focused group. In response, Tucson Unified and local partners hosted a College & Career Night at the Tucson Convention Center, where more than 1,200 students explored trade schools, apprenticeships, military options, and other post‑secondary paths linked to higher earnings.
   

2. New Aerospace and Defense Company expanding in Tucson (kgun9.com) — Albers Aerospace is expanding near Tucson International Airport after acquiring local firm Parallel Ventures, planning to add 25 skilled manufacturing jobs and donating over $11,000 to Pima Community College. Local business leaders say the move will inject about $36 million into the Tucson economy over five years and further cement the city's strong aerospace and defense workforce.
   

3. Scouting America honors local leaders, actor Bob Odenkirk at Good Scout Awards (kold.com) — Tucson residents were recognized for their community service at the 27th Annual Good Scout Awards Luncheon held at the Sheraton Tucson Hotel and Suites. Scouting America's Catalina Council honored local attorney Tim Medcoff, News 13 anchor Dan Marries, and actor Bob Odenkirk for their commitment to character, citizenship, and service across southern Arizona.
   

4. SPEARS CARS Tour Southwest Returns to Tucson Speedway to Open 2027 Season (speedwaydigest.com) — Tucson racing fans can look ahead to January, when the 2027 CARS Tour Southwest season opens at Tucson Speedway during the 14th annual Chilly Willy weekend. Pro Late Models return, Limited Late Models join the card, and the SoundGear 225 will headline one of the new year's biggest short track events in Southern Arizona.
