Globetrotters bring new Rivalry Tour to North Little Rock arena in March (arkansasonline.com) — Residents in North Little Rock can look forward to the Harlem Globetrotters' new Rivalry Tour hitting Simmons Bank Arena on March 14 at 3 p.m., complete with a free pre-game tip-off party. Tickets go on sale this Friday through Ticketmaster, with several premium fan packages offering on-court access and bench seating for those wanting an up-close experience.
4. Arkansas HBCUs awarded more than $4.2 million in federal funding (nwahomepage.com) — North Little Rock's Shorter College is sharing in more than $4.2 million in new federal funding awarded to Arkansas's four HBCUs, money leaders say will directly support students and campus improvements. At a Little Rock announcement, college presidents and Rep. French Hill also promoted the bipartisan IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act, aimed at long-term upgrades to classrooms, housing, labs, and broadband.
5. Jobless rates decline in most Arkansas metros in August (talkbusiness.net) — New federal data show unemployment falling across most Arkansas metro areas, including the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway region, where jobless numbers and rates both improved from last year. For North Little Rock residents, the report highlights steady nonfarm job growth and fewer people out of work, suggesting a relatively strong and tightening local labor market heading into fall.
