Employee At Tahoe Ski Resort Dies In Apparent Accident

The man's death came one day after a fatal avalanche at another Lake Tahoe ski resort.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA — A ski patrol worker died Saturday at at Heavenly Mountain Resort near South Lake Tahoe in an apparent accident, one day after a man died in an avalanche at another resort near Lake Tahoe, authorities said.

The victim was identified as Christopher John Nicholson, 36, a resort employee who lived in South Lake Tahoe.

Nicholson was found unconscious on an expert ski run at Heavenly Mountain and was lifted to Carson Valley Medical Center in Nevada, where he was pronounced dead, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The cause of death remains under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, an avalanche at Alpine Meadows-Squaw Valley ski resort, several miles west of Lake Tahoe, killed a 34-year-old man and seriously injured another person.
