Big Wins, Tough Losses for the Chargers
A recap of Agoura High School sports from the second half of this week.

With a couple of big wins and seasons continuing, some of the Chargers atheltics program faced tough losses in the opening week of CIF playoffs. Despite valiant efforts and great performances, a few teams have been knocked out for the season.
- Eastern Divisionals commences Friday, 11 a.m. at Oak Hills High School in Hesperia, ends Saturday night. Agoura's league champion, 125-pounder Scott Haskell, and league runner-up, 189-pounder Ethan Rieder, are seeded second, with league champion, 103-pounder Daniel Opferman, seeded third. P.J. Press, Travis Salle, Johnny Fayad, Cody Bischoff, and Asher Rudyan are headed to the tournament. The top five placers from each of the six divisions will go on next weekend to Temecula High School for the Mater's tournament. The top nine from there will head to State in Bakersfield the first weekend in March.

- The Marmonte League champions hosted Bell Gardens Thursday night for the first round of playoffs and built a seven-goal lead after the first quarter. Savannah Fletcher and Callan Edwards finished with four goals apiece and India Forster and Whitney Stane added three each. Final score was 16-9, as goalkeeper Sierra Barton had 16 saves. They will face Long Beach Wilson in quarterfinals on Saturday. They move to 22-7 overall undefeated in league.
- First Round of CIF Playoffs hosting J. Serra Catholic High School Friday at 3 p.m.

- A ping-pong mathcup between Murrieta Valley High School in Temecula ended in a tough loss for the lady Chargers. With a double overtime a shoot outs down to the last shot, this squad fought a tough battle. They end their tremendous season with a record of 18-11-6.
- In a nail-biting playoff game, the Chargers lost by two, 58-56, on Wednesday to Damien High School. Head coach Joe Riccio said it was a tremendous accomplishment for the Chargers to get to playoffs. The team ends the season with an overall record of 11-16.
- A big first round win for the lady Chargers defeating Baldwin park 68-32 Thursday night at home. Freshman Noam Leead led the team with 21 points. Samantha Fisher had 14 points and Camille Mahlknecht added 10 points for Agoura. They play at Camarillo on Saturday, with an overall record of 20-7.
