📰 News we're reading
• New tech could reveal how animals feel about world's largest wildlife crossing (ktla.com) — Agoura Hills residents will soon see the long-awaited Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing open over the 101, with a Dec. 2 ribbon-cutting planned if weather cooperates. Crews are finishing the bridges over Agoura Road and Old Agoura Road, while scientists prepare high-tech animal collars to track how mountain lions, deer, and other wildlife actually experience the new crossing.

• World's largest wildlife crossing is on track to open this winter — unless El Niño intervenes (latimes.com subscription) — A massive wildlife crossing over the 101 in Agoura Hills is nearing its planned December 2 completion, potentially transforming local ecology and traffic-side scenery if El Niño storms don't cause new delays. Crews are finishing soil work and landscaping that will connect habitat for mountain lions and other wildlife between the Santa Monica Mountains and Simi Hills, with officials stressing the project's importance for long‑term species survival.

• Red Cross: Patients are counting on blood and platelet donors to give now (redcross.org) — Agoura Hills residents have several chances this month to donate blood locally, including drives at the Hampton Inn on October 20 and November 5 and at Agoura Bible Fellowship on October 25. The Red Cross is offering e‑gift card incentives and stresses that fall donations help keep supplies stable for patients across Southern California and beyond.
