Records Were Made to Be Broken
Agoura senior Johnathan Cabral posts fastest time in the Arcadia Invitational's 44-year history in the 110-meter hurdles.
TRACK & FIELD
- Agoura High school senior Johnathan Cabral posted two meet records at the Arcadia Invitational track meet on Saturday. He recorded a 13.43 in the 110-meter hurdles and 36.42 in the 300-meter hurdles. According to the Los Angeles Times, it was the "..best combined winning performance in the hurdles in meet history..." The Arcadia Invitational has been around for 44 years, showcasing the best talent from around the country. Now a future Oregon Duck, Cabral has his eyes set on the state record which is within reach at 13.39. The track and field team's next league meet is scheduled for Thursday at 3 p.m. against the Thousand Oaks Lancers and the Newbury Park Panthers.
BASEBALL
- On Friday, the Agoura Chargers Varsity Baseball team challenged the Moorpark Musketeers in Marmonte league play. The Chargers battled hard, but eventually let the game get away from them resulting in a 5-1 loss. According to Alex Bhattacharya, Agoura Chargers team manager, Moorpark scored three runs in the first inning, and the Chargers could never recover. Agoura looks to bounce back and post their next league win when they host the Calabasas Coyotes on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. The Chargers are currently 5-8 overall and 3-5 in league.
SOFTBALL

- Over the weekend, throughout Friday and Saturday, the Agoura Chargers Girls Varsity Softball team played four games in tournament play, finishing 2-2. They began Friday matched up against a strong Clovis West Golden Eagles team. They fought hard but ended up losing 6-1. Jamie DePippo led the way going 1-3 with an RBI. Early Saturday, the Agoura Chargers redeemed themselves when they challenged the Tigers of San Luis Obispo and held them scoreless 11-0. Ashley Kellenberger pitched a complete game shutout and gave up two hits with six strikeouts. Natalie Fersht went 3-4, and Clarise Compton went 2-3. In Agoura's third game, they battled the Nipomo Titans and came up short losing 1-0. Stephanie Lord pitched a complete game and struck out five, while Jamie DePippo went 2-3. Coincidentally, the Chargers were slated to play the San Luis Obispo Tigers again in their fourth and final game, and they wasted no time letting their bats do the talking, beating them 15-5. Once again, Ashley Kellenberger pitched a complete game, picking up the win and striking out five. Natalie Fersht went a perfect 4-4, and Stephanie Lord went 3-4, recording two triples.
- The Agoura Chargers Varsity team recorded another win in league play when they battled the Warriors at Westlake on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. They finished with an 8-2 victory, putting them back on the right track. Stephanie Lord once again pitched a complete game and allowed only five hits. Agoura had ten team hits with strong contributions by Kelcie Brodsky and Liana Moss, who both hit a double and drove in two RBI's. The Chargers are currently 8-8 overall and 4-4 in league. They look to keep the streak alive when they enter the Michelle Carew Classic in Anaheim today.
BOYS TENNIS
- The Agoura Chargers Varsity tennis team lost 16-2 against the Westlake Warriors. Agoura did have two great performances in singles play by Chris Popovich and Justin Nodle who both beat the Westlake Warriors 6-1 and 6-2 respectively. Agoura's Junior Varsity team squeaked out a win against the Westlake Warriors 23-20 in total games won. Agoura's Varsity record is 6-7 overall and 4-6 in league play. Agoura's Junior Varsity record is 7-4 overall and 4-4 in league play. The Chargers look for a strong showing when they host the Thousand Oaks Lancers on Thursday at 3 p.m.
BOYS LACROSSE

- In Friday's league battle, the hosting Agoura Chargers Varsity lacrosse team posted a 10-5 win over the Thousand Oaks Lancers. The Chargers are now 10-2 overall and 10-1 in league. They take the field next on Friday when they travel to the Eagles of Oak Park to avenge their only loss in league play.
BOYS GOLF
- The Agoura Chargers Boys Golf team began tournament play yesterday at Los Robles golf course and will finish play Thursday at Tierra Rejada golf course. Their next league match is against the Westlake Warriors two weeks from today at Soule Park.
