The Charger Girls Take Their 10th Title

The 2010-11 Agoura High School spirit team wins its 10th USA National title at the competition, held March 25-27.

SPIRIT TEAM

  • The Charger Girls were victorious again when they took home their 10th national title. According to Vicki Koch, team adviser, over 9,000 cheerleaders and song leaders and 300 teams competed in the three-day event held at Disneyland/Anaheim Convention Center.  The 62-member team, under head coach Eileen McGrew and Koch, defeated eight other finalists in the "Crowdleading" division, the trademark of the United Spirit Association. For those looking to join next year, the Charger Girls tryout clinics are scheduled for April 12 and 13 at the Agoura High School
    gym, after school until 5 p.m. The clinics are available for all incoming freshman through present juniors for the 2011-12 school year. Tryouts are scheduled for April 14.

SWIMMING

  • The Boys and Girls Varsity and Junior Varsity swim teams have a great task ahead of them when they travel to Moorpark High School to challenge the Musketeers.  The swim meet is on Wednesday and starts at 3 p.m.

GIRLS LACROSSE

  • The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team traveled to Newbury Park High School on Monday to battle the Panthers at 6 p.m.  They will play again on Thursday at Thousand Oaks against the Lancers at 6:30 p.m.

BOYS LACROSSE

  • The Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Lacrosse teams traveled to Malibu High School on Monday to battle the Sharks.  Their games on Wednesday against the Westlake Warriors have been cancelled.

BOYS GOLF

  • The Varsity Golf team lost a hard fought battle against the Newbury Park Panthers 442/423 at Soule Park golf course on Monday.  The Junior Varsity team fell short against the Thousand Oaks Lancers at the Westlake golf course.  The Varsity team will next travel to Camarillo Springs golf course to challenge the Oaks Christian Lions on Wednesday at 1 p.m.  The Junior Varsity team doesn't play again until Tuesday of next week against the Westlake Warriors.

BASEBALL

  • Agoura hosted the Thousand Oaks Lancers on Monday.  According to Alex Bhattacharya, team manager, the Chargers jumped out to an early lead in the first with a 7 run frame and never looked back.  The Chargers, as a team, batted over .500 and were lead by Justin Cana, Mark Seyler and Chad Clark. Each player batted in three runs.  The scoreboard is as follows:

  • The Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will travel to Westlake Wednesday to battle the Warriors.

SOFTBALL

  • The Girls Junior Varsity and Varsity Softball teams tested their skills Tuesday against the Simi Valley Pioneers.  They will play again Thursday at home against the Highlanders of Royal at 3:30 p.m.

TRACK AND FIELD

  • The Boys and Girls Track team will compete in a meet against the Highlanders of Royal and the Moorpark Musketeers on Wednesday at 3 p.m. They will attend the Arcadia Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the end of this week.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

  • The Frosh/Soph, Junior Varsity and Varsity Volleyball teams challenge the Warriors at Westlake on Wednesday beginning at 3:30 p.m.  They will battle Friday against the Thousand Oaks Lancers at home.

BOYS TENNIS

  • The Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Tennis teams traveled Tuesday to Simi Valley High School to battle the Pioneers.  They will play their next match on Thursday at home against Royal at 3 p.m.
