2 Alameda Women Arrested Following Grand Theft: Police

Police recovered $1,300 in stolen merchandise​, credit alert employee.

ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda Police arrested two women Sunday evening following the theft of $1,300 in merchandise from a South Shore Center business, police report.

Both suspects are Alameda residents, whose names have not been released.

At 6 p.m., police dispatchers took a call from an employee about a theft. According to police, "As the involved parties left the scene, the caller was able to provide a detailed description of the individuals and their vehicle."

Officers were led to the 1500 block of Pacific Avenue where they located two women and a vehicle matching the description. Officers the stolen merchandise and arrested the women on suspicion off grand theft.

"Officers have been working with our business community to help curb retail thefts," police said in a social media post. "We would like to applaud the employee for immediately reporting the theft. Their prompt action, combined with the description they provided, helped APD quickly locate and recover the merchandise."
