5-Alarm Fire Near Oakland's Lake Merritt
The massive fire broke out at a construction site, forcing neighbors to flee the towering flames.

OAKLAND, CA - A massive fire Halloween morning was seen over a wide area.
The towering flames were from a condominium complex that had been under construction near Lake Merritt at Lester and Hanover avenues.
No injuries have been reported.

More than 100 residents in nearby buildings had to evacuate in the predawn darkness.
The fire is out, but firefighters have been at the scene throughout the day for mop-up operations. They're expected to remain there throughout the night.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This is the second huge fire that has destroyed a condo construction site in the East Bay this year.
