4 Displaced In Alameda Apartment Fire

Cause of the single-alarm blaze is under investigation, officials said.

ALAMEDA, CA – No injuries were reported in a one-alarm fire at an apartment building in Alameda late Monday morning but four people were displaced, a fire spokesman said.

The fire at the four-unit building in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue was reported at 11:22 a.m. and was controlled about 20 minutes later, Alameda Fire Capt. James Colburn said.

The blaze was confined to one of the upstairs units and the other units weren't damaged, according to Colburn.

The unit damaged is not habitable, however, so the four people who lived there must find alternative housing, he said. The cause and origin of the fire have not yet been determined, Colburn said.

The agency thanked firefighters from Oakland for covering area stations as Alameda crews battled the blaze, and residents were asked to avoid the area during the fire.
