$5k In Lottery Tickets Stolen From Gas Station By East Bay Man: Police

A surveillance investigation led detectives to a man accused of breaking into the gas station, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — A man was arrested Monday in Hayward after investigators said he broke into a Marin County gas station and stole more than $5,000 worth of lottery scratchers, officials said.

Marin County Sheriff's Office detectives identified Mario Anthony Bass, 39, of Hayward, as the suspect, police said.

Surveillance video captured the burglary at the Marinwood 76 Gas Station last week, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators used additional surveillance footage to identify Bass, officials said.

On Monday, detectives said they found Bass in Hayward and arrested him.

Bass was booked on felony charges of burglary, grand theft and vandalism, according to the sheriff's office.
