8 People Displaced By Alameda Apartment Fire

No injuries were reported.

ALAMEDA, CA - Eight people were displaced but no one was injured in a fire at a two-story apartment building in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue shortly after noon today, fire officials said.

The fire at the four-unit building was reported at 12:06 p.m. and declared extinguished at 12:34 p.m., according to Alameda fire Capt. James Colburn.

A fire investigator is working to determine the cause and origin of the blaze, which was confined to one unit on the second floor, although there was water damage to the other three units, Colburn said.

The people who lived at the building were able to evacuate safely before fire crews arrived but they won't be able to return to the building for some time so the Red Cross is helping the eight adults who were displaced, according to Colburn.

A total of 20 firefighters responded to the blaze. Outside agencies who assisted the Alameda Fire Department include the Alameda Building Department, Alameda Municipal Power, Alameda police and Pacific Gas & Electric.
