Alameda: A Cradle of the American Malt Whiskey Revolution

A New York Times survey of the best American malted whiskey makers mentions St. George.

Just as the famous "Judgment of Paris" in 1976 marked Napa Valley's debut as a winemaking capital, a Texas distillery's victory in a whiskey competition last year signals that Scotland is no longer the sole producer of the world's best malt whiskeys.

An article in the New York Times Tuesday about the American whiskey revolution mentioned Alameda's own St. George Spirits as an example of an upstart single malt challenging the best that Scotland has to offer.

To be sure, this is hardly the first time St. George's single malt has been praised by the connoisseurs in the media.
