Alameda Business Spotlight: Doggy-Style Hotdogs
Cousins team up to serve new variations on the traditional hotdog.
Owners: Mike Pang and Milton Pang
When did you open? Mike: We had our grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 17. The week before we had a soft opening just for family and friends. We did that because just the family is over a couple hundred people!
What do you serve? Mike: I felt Alameda needed something a little different. So we came up with different styles of hotdogs such as the Dogzilla, which is a bratwurst with teriyaki sauce, Japanese mayo and seaweed. Many of the styles are Asian fusion but we serve traditional hotdogs like chili dogs (which we call the Dirty South). Unlike a lot of hotdog places which steam their hotdogs, we grill our kosher, all-beef hotdogs. There are also seven different types of sausages on the menu.

Milton: We spent countless hours at my house on Bay Farm trying different variations. I love to cook. My sister, who ran a restaurant for over 30 years was a big help, too. We spent a lot of time taste testing to see what flavors blended best with each hotdog.
Are there any special offers at this time? Mike: We have a frequent diner card. If you buy ten hotdogs, you get one free. We also offer a student special. For $4.25 you can get a hotdog and a drink. Check our website and blog for upcoming weekly specials.

How did you pick the name? It’s a little risqué. Mike: It’s a little new, a bit hip. It goes well with the new styles that we’re creating for the hot dog.
