Alameda Business Spotlight: In Bloom
In Bloom, a boutique catering to girls in their tweens, opened in July on Park Street
Owner: Monisa Croxton, a second generation Alamedan.
What's on the racks? We have casual clothes for girls who are happy wearing basic skinny jeans and tees. And we have dressier outfits and accessories for those who prefer to be a bit more girly-girl. We carry sizes 6-16. If you want something different or a brand name, something made very well, In Bloom's got it.
What's hot for tween girls? Jeggings—a combination of jeans and leggings—are the hot thing right now. They are stretchy and comfortable like leggings but look like jeans. We also have accessories—headbands, earrings and bracelets made from recycled materials.

What inspired you to open In Bloom? I have three girls. It was frustrating always having to leave the Island to shop for them.
How do you keep up on the latest trends? I go to trade shows in Los Angeles and San Francisco. And I pick my daughters' brains and ask them what girls are wearing.
