How is this one different? This is a different concept. The bistro offers a more full dining experience. We serve beer and wine. It’s a little more upscale.
How did you decide to expand to Alameda? About seven months ago, I came to Alameda to have coffee with a friend. I saw the empty storefront and asked if it might be suited for a restaurant.

The interior looks very stylish. Thank you. We worked with an interior designer. It took us six weeks to remodel it. The ceilings are very high. I put the lights up myself!
What’s on the menu? There are traditional dishes like Pad Thai. And also fusion dishes, East meets West.
What is your impression of Alameda so far? Very good! It’s different than Berkeley.
Spice I Am is located at 1353 Park St. It is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Telephone: 510-522-8679.
