Here are the top stories today in Alameda:

  1. In Alameda County, about 139,810 — or 8.4 percent of residents — were considered food insecure prior to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Feeding America. This year, that number could grow from 8.4 percent to 10.9 percent of Alameda residents. (Patch)
  2. Shots were fired when a group of people tried to rob a marijuana dispensary in San Leandro early Monday morning. (Patch).
  3. Betty Yu reports on activity ramping up at Bay Area airports as travelers head off for Thanksgiving holiday. (CBS San Francisco).
  4. The East Bay SPCA was awarded a $20,000 grant for two years from PetSmart Charities to help bolster animal welfare services across Alameda and Contra Costa counties, PetSmart announced. (Patch).
