Alameda Fights Back to End Cancer

Mark your calendars: Relay For Life of Alameda 2016 scheduled for June 25, 2016 at Encinal High School. Volunteer opportunities available!

New research from the American Cancer Society reveals there will be an estimated 1.7 million new cancer cases this year - and 600,000 cases will be fatal.

In fact, 1-in-2 men and 1-in-3 women will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetimes. That means, according to the 2010 Census, that 17,657 Alameda men and 12,832 Alameda women will someday hear the words “you’ve got cancer.”

That’s why Alameda is fighting back with the 22nd Relay For Life of Alameda.

What is Relay For Life?

It is a community event that celebrates the lives of people who have battled cancer, remembers loved ones lost, and fights back against the disease to create a world where nobody will ever have to hear the words “you’ve got cancer” again.
