Alameda Firefighters, Equipment Deployed To Wildfires

Two deployments were announced this week, on Monday and Wednesday.

ALAMEDA, CA —The Alameda Fire Department is doing its part in the battle against wildfires in California, with two new deployments announced this week.

A water tender with a crew of two Alameda firefighters was sent to the Six Rivers Lightning Complex located on the Six Rivers National Forest near Willow Creek, the department announced on facebook on Wednesday.

The complex is made up of 12 lightning caused fires with a combined total of more than 10,000 acres burned and no containment.

The water tender responded early Wednesday as a part of a multi-county task force with units from Sonoma and Santa Cruz counties.

On Monday, Capt. Gray and Firefighter Weidler joined a 16-person Swift Water Rescue Team sent to Alpine County to prepare for potential mudslides and debris flow as a result of predicted storms. Partner agencies include Oakland Fire, Livermore - Pleasanton Fire, Hayward Fire, Alameda County Fire, Contra Costa County Fire, Santa Rosa Fire and Fremont Fire.
