Alameda, the Island City in San Francisco Bay, will again host the annual Legacy House Tour on Sunday, September 24th from 11am to 5pm. This rare chance to enter some of Alameda’s famously historic homes is co-sponsored by The Alameda Architectural Preservation Society and The Alameda Museum, to support their preservation efforts.
The tour features seven historic homes, spanning four decades, from 1881 to 1920. None of these homes has ever been open to the public. The tour includes extraordinary restorations, the patina of a by-gone era, representing decades of dedicated work by the owners. Styles include Stick-Eastlake Victorian, Craftsman and Colonial Revival with beautifully maintained interiors, and authentic period furnishings. Restored antique automobiles provide another highlight at each home, and many docents wear Victorian-era clothing. We’ve also invited restoration specialists to participate. It’s a fun day, not to be missed!
